History of Kashmir

' Kashmir' which has always been a controversial topic, is not a place which it might seem to be.. Kashmir is very rich in its culture and heritage. The beautiful land wrapped by mighty mountains has a fantastic history. The history backs to the epic times. When the Kambojas rules over kashmir, a republic form of rule under the kingship of King Kamboj. The capital city was Rajapura. Later the Panchalas established their sway. Peer panjal, part of modern kashmir is an evidence for this. It is said that the word Peer is prefixed in memory of Siddha Faqir by the muslims. The Mauryan emperor Ashoka founded the city Srinagar. During 14th Century Muslims became the majority in the society. Muslims and HIndus since then have always lived with relative harmony. BUNGUS Valley-An un explored destination yet to explored

Bungus - A beautiful place surrounded by ever green tropical forests with one calmly flowing river besides it, people say if it is open for tourists then tourists are definitely going to forget Gulmarg and other tourist destinations. One of the relatively unknown areas of Kashmir with vast tourism potential. Lies at an altitude of 10,000 ft above the sea level. Occupying an estimated area of 300 sq. Kms. Bungus Valley is 140kms from srinagar and 30kms (appx) from kupwara which can be explored via handwara as well as via kralpora. bungus valley is surrounded by many other tourist destinations like TP, reddy Rest house- where people go and enjoy whole day with there families, panzgam, Air field of Rawathpora. Bungus is surrounded by Shamsberry Range, Leepa Valley. This Place is not open for Tourists at the moment.
